Itinerary description
A nice excursion through the Agua Fria National Monument and down to Sheep Bridge at the Verde River.
The original bridge was built in the 1940s to get sheep across the Verde River between different grazing areas. In the late 1980s the new bridge was built for access to hiking trails in the Mazatzal Wilderness area.
Although much of this trip is dirt roads, the last 10 miles or so is very rocky - navigable with a high clearance 4x4.
There's a hidden hot spring, several hiking trails, and plenty of camping along the dry river bottom near the bridge.
