XXXII RAID of Grupo Aventura Motor Ceuta - April 2022
2 SUVs (Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Toyota Fortuner)
6 expeditionaries (Luilly - Dr. Jones - Teti - Carlos - Tirado - Alessandro)
6th Stage (mini-stage): Wadi Khor - Salalah Cliffs
Total: 95 km
Asphalt: 70 km
Track: 25 km
Total time: 2:47 h.
Moving time: 2:05 h.
On the sixth day of the trip, we had planned to enjoy Salalah quietly in the morning and in the afternoon begin our return by road towards the north of the country. Half of the group stayed to enjoy the morning at the hotel's pool and beach, since we had the rooms until two in the afternoon. Carlos, Teti and I went in the Toyota Prado to take a mini-route around Salalah.
First we went to Wadi Khor to see if by chance he had some water. We had previously been investigating the site and some pools formed with a very cool waterfall in the rainy season. To our disappointment, we did not find a single drop of water, although we could perfectly appreciate the beauty of the site and the formations that erosion had created throughout the seasonal rains.
Later we headed towards the cliffs of Salalah, where we knew that there was a boat "recently" stranded as a result of the typhoon Mekunu that the area suffered in October 2018. The cliffs were a scare because there were no security measures and only looking out to do The photo of the boat already cost a good moment of pure adrenaline. After visiting the boat we returned along the cliff track, it is a place where you have to drive with great caution and where there were a couple of ramps that made it necessary to use a gearbox. For this step alone I mark the track as moderate.
On the way back to the hotel we stopped at a market on the beach to buy typical things from Oman, we couldn't leave without incense from here. To finish the route, we went about 4 km along a very beautiful beach full of palm trees that transported you to paradisiacal places in the Indian Ocean.
