Gjirokaster - Blue Eye - Sarande - Ksamil - Butrint National Park - Beaches - Aquarium Beach
Route that combines road with off road tracks. The most complicated section is the one that reaches Aquarium Beach, but with a 4x4 it is done without problems.
To visit the Blue Eye, we parked outside the enclosure and made our way on foot, but you can get to the side of the Blue Eye by car for a fee.
We visit the beaches of what is called the Albanian Riviera. There are really very nice beaches but for our taste in summer we believe that it must be crowded with people and lose its charm. Cities like Ksamil and Sarande are 100% focused on tourism, we only visit it in passing and although it is good to see it, we prefer to spend more time in other areas and beaches that we believe are much more worthwhile, and more traveling as we do with the 4x4 with which we are self-sufficient and can sleep wherever we want.
We particularly slept on the Aquarium Beach and it was a spectacular experience. It is a very small and quiet beach, dreamlike. We were there for a whole day together with a couple of 4x4 vans. We had a nightly bonfire and chilling out and loved it.
In summer we imagine that during the day there must be quite a lot of people, but we were lucky not to find too many people during the day and enjoy a night alone with 4 other people with whom we became very good friends.
There are many other beaches like this that are worth seeing, we recommend that you get lost and look beyond the 4 typical beaches where resorts are being built because they are the ones that are most worth seeing.
