Itinerary description

Well, the opportunity presented itself for me to go for a bit of a drive after finishing my night shift. I had been planning a run down to BaldRock NP and Boonoo Boonoo NP for a bit of a look around and do some of the local walks but with recent health and work getting in the way, I decided to head off after my night shift..... The route took me south via Beaudesert, then via Wyaralong dam, then onto Boonah then travel the back roads behind Maroon Dam, then onto Carney's Creek & White Swamp Rds, criss-crossing the qld/nsw border. Interesting in seeing the Govt's attempts in monitoring the illegal trafficking of some agricultural products via cameras at some border x-ings and not others.... From this point I turned off White Swamp rd onto Head Gate Rd which bought me back across the border into Qld on Spring Creek Rd & where the Condamine River Rd comes out at the Head.  Reached BaldRock NP around 11am and checked out teh walk lengths and decided to shorted route to the top but this also turned out to be the steepest as well. Once on top I rested and took the view in while recovering from the steep climb up the rock. The views were fantastic and it was also at a time that u could start to see the storms all start to form and head eastwards..... Once I recovered I headed back down the easier but longer way as this way had some good rock formations. Once back down in carpark, I had a quick bite to eat and it was then onto my next destination - Boonoo Boonoo NP some 20ks down the road. Time was running short so it was a quick drive in and a quick look around at the 2 walks - The Falls & Rock Pools. A great place to camp for a couple of days and relax/swim in the river. By now the time was around 1.30 or so and with storms building and a good 3>4hr drive ahead, it was time to head off home. I went back the way I came down via Legume, then onto Killarney and decided to set the GPS to shortest distance to get me home..... bad mistake as the GPS took me via all the back roads and some that didn't even exist. Once I gathered where the heck I was, I ignore the GPS and made my way back onto the Warrego Hwy & home, reaching home some 600ks later and around 11.5hrs after leaving work from my 12hr night shift.... Driving Time: 9.75hrs Distance Travelled: 599kms
