Musawarat site with temple
Always a few km from the Nile. Semi-desert landscape flat with some acacia earth and dust. Locals travel on donkey carts. Town before Meroe (Shendi) with market. Site of Meroe: royal city, only wall columns remain, some sandstone statue, all plundered by the British. Not far away pyramids in the sand (North and South necropolis).
