Itinerary description
Parigala is an ancient fortress located in Yukhari Chardagalar village of Zagatala district. It has preserved its original appearance and has been able to reach our times.
The fort was built in a very strategic location. There is only one way to the fort through steep rock paths. The exact date of construction of the castle is not known. However, due to the construction style, researchers assume that the castle was built during the Caucasian Albania period.
The fairy castle has a completely different architectural style. They built this fort in the 4th century AD by hewing the rocks. There are different opinions about the purpose of this fort. The castle is located in such a position that all roads to the area are clearly visible from the castle. It is believed that the guards, seeing the enemy's army approaching, would immediately take the brides, daughters, and children of the hand to this fort and would not let them down until the enemy left. According to the legend, the name of the castle was also related to this: the castle that protects the fairies - the daughters of Elen. [show source]
Another legend mentions that when Teymurlang attacked this area at the end of the 14th century, they informed him that the fortress was impregnable. It was said that the castle was headed by a girl named Pari. At this time, Teymurleng announces that he will personally lead the attack of the fortress and make that woman his wife. During the attack on the castle, Pari throws herself off the cliff when she sees that she will be captured. Since then, the castle has been known as Pari Castle.
