Itinerary description
A great day out in serious but not too technical terrain.
Our attempt yesterday was at the crux of the route - 45degree snow slope just before the VF but actually it was ok! The VF is quite challenging but no problem and possible in crampons. Once over the top the vista opens up onto the glacier where conditions were perfect and a good path was visible over it. The path is simple which loops round to the edge of the summit ridge. The ridge itself wasn’t so bad and we were very happy to move well in crampons for the first time.
We came back a slightly longer way just to see more of the valley.

There is another way to go to the summit by the Rofen glacier, just back of the refuge.
Very original and creative way to arrive there!
