Itinerary description
A scenic circular route, done with snow from circa 500m over sea level.
The initial hike gains altitude quite fast, coming soon close to the steep part of the middle of the sister mountains.
The zig-zag scramble itself is quite easy, but with some ice on it some sections are a little bit tricky. Most part of the zig-zags is just a hike on a gravel trail, without any difficulties or exposure.
Once on the top of the ridge we felt the full power of the wind and snow, with intense snow showers and gusts up to 40 knots.
We followed the ridge over the three little tops until descending into the valley.
The slope winds down quite steeply but was still viewable under about 10-15cm of freshly fallen snow.
After a while a stone trail with mostly stairs appeared, which was in slippery conditions, reason for which it was convenient to continue walking on crampons.
After about two hours of knee-punishing descend we reached the car park where we started 7 hours earlier.
Done with Hunter Mountaineering.
