Itinerary description
This is a moderate hike if done at the right time of the year but can be very difficult if done early or late since it requires crossing the Sarvant Glacier and crossing talus fields. Too early and the cornice onto the glacier can be difficult to dangerous and too late their can be water-ice and small cravacsses to deal with. The glacier is small and not that steep so rope is not normally needed. It's one of my favorite trips in the park and provides views from Mt Hood in Oregon to Mt Baker near the Canadian border and most of the Olympics. There not too many places in the state where one can see six volcanoes from one spot. Mid July to early Aug is the ideal time to go since the wildflowers are then at their peak.
