Itinerary description
This trail includes the climbing of two mountains: Munella (1362m) not to be confused with Munella on the northern part, and Shpati with its highest peak 1831m, called Bukanik.
This area has suffered deforestation for industrial purposes during communism era. Now the situation is a bit better with the new trees growing and replacing the old ones.
The rocks and cliffs have an ultrabasic origin that can easily spotted while walking.
The trail ends in Gjinar, an important tourist village in Elbasan district. It's interesting that that this area practises Christian-Orthodox religion even if you may find some Muslim names.
From the top, weather allowing, you get a clear view of the central part of Albania: Dumre lakes, Belshi and Banja lakes, Polis mountain, Valamara etc.
