Itinerary description

We decided to combine three peaks into one long trip. Starting and ending point unfortunately are about 6 km apart from each other so either you have to go all the way back to parking by following the marked trial along the cliffs and river or try your luck with hitchhiking (we weren't lucky enough...).
This one probably couldn't be done without ice axes and crampons (we accidentally lost one Grivel ice axe on our way down from #5 so if you find it by any chance feel free to contact us :) )

As for the hike itself we started from the parking near monument (Nedri-Stafur) to the bridge and went straight up toward the cliffs. Close to the top of them it became very steep and from easy hiking it turned to serious climbing (free solo :) ) through ice, loose boulders and basaltic columns. After passing that point you're pretty much safe on flat top.
From #3 to #4 the beginning is quite easy but then the ridge becomes narrow and sometimes it might be better to traverse the slope and climb the stones instead of very steep snow.

Reaching #5 is easy for most of the way as you just have to follow flat top of Hádegistindur and ridge between #4 and #5. Only about last 500 m of the way to the top might require a bit of climbing.

The way down to Seyðisfjörður is where the real challenge starts. Firstly we went back to Dagmalatindur where we could go down instead of falling. The trick is to be faster than falling rocks while sliding down on loose stones and trying not to fall from the cliffs. When we reached snow we felt safe again and followed the river down to marked path above the town which you can either go to the town centre or follow it back to the starting point of this trail.
