Itinerary description
A long loop to the top of Prutas mountain (2401m) and down to the Skrcko valley to visit two lakes, starting at Sabran.
Prutas and the mountains around it have a unique shape - they are built of narrow distinct layers which stand up right or twisted instead of one over the other.
Starting from Sarban it is a steady climb towards Skrcko saddle. From there the view opens up west and east to the twisted layers and north (forward) to the Skrcko valley. From Prutas there is a nice view of Bobotov Kuk's western face (highest peak in Durmitor), along the narrow Skrcko valley fllowing toward Susika and back south-east to Sedloe Grede.
From Prutas the path goes steeply down, through snow fields and boulder fields to the valley. Two nice lakes lay at the botom of the valley. From the valley a different trail going south connects us back to the Skrcko saddle and from there to Sarban.
Nice trail, mostly good underfooth, a bit steep on the decent from Prutas.
14km, +/-1100m, 8hrs

Harder than expected, but we LOVED it! Swam in the fridged lake, saw mountain creatures, painted the landscapes, had a great time! Thanks for the directions 🙏❣️👍👍👍⛰⛰🏔🤪
Was the steep descent from Prutas slippery/dangerous?
To the best my recollection from 4 years ago, it isn't dangerous - the trail isn't above an abyss and it wasn't slippery when I did it, but I guess it might be slippery after rain. You decent over fallen rocks and steep meadow so care should be taken and a good set of knees is recommended ;-)
I would recommend this track in the opposite direction especially in the afternoon to see the sunset from the ridge on the way back. The steep uphill from the lake is not dangerous, only steep ascent that requires good physical conditions.
