Ojstrica is the last mountain we climbed on our vacation in Slovenia. With its 2350 meters it is one of the most impressive peaks of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, mainly due to the limestone rock walls that fall vertically with more than 500 meters on its north and east faces.
The route begins in a parking lot on the road that leads to the Rinka waterfall in the spectacular Logarska dolina valley. We begin to quickly subtract positive slope through a beautiful pine and beech forest, we pass through the "Koča na Klemenči jami pod Ojstrico" refuge, and we access the Škarbina pass where the Kopinškova road begins. It is a route on the NE face and reaching the top on the N face of the mountain, protected with iron bars in the most compromised and aerial sections, also well marked with red and white dots. It is very enjoyable, yes, it is not suitable for people with vertigo since it has a patio in almost its entirety. We could not see anything from 2000 meters above sea level due to the dense fog that got in while we went up. At the top, a quick sandwich and back down, freezing cold and zero views. The descent along the normal path to the Škarje pass, initially easy except for a couple of sections protected by guardrails and handrails. And little by little we descend until we connect with the initial ascent path. Alpine route 100% recommended, depending on the level of each one, it is convenient to carry a ferrata kit to protect the most compromised steps.
