Itinerary description
Please note that this is my personal version of the Haute Route, walked over one summer (2016) in 57 days. It avoids certain standard stages which I have already done (Carlit and Canigou) because I wanted to discover new paths. In addition, I went down from the Portillon hostel to Luchon and then back to the route via the Maupas hostel and the Hospice de France (so I could go home for a rest). More details on lasenda.net.

hello, in which months have you been to the HRP? Did you have special equipment because of the snow?
I'm going hendaye slowly next week.
Hi
I did the HRP from mid June to mid September and used crampons and ice axe between Arrémoulit and Gavarnie, see http://www.lasenda.net/pyrenean-haute-route-2016-days-14-19-somport-to-gavarnie/ However, there is much more snow than usual this year, see comments on http://www.pyreneanway.com/2018/01/snow-reports-for-walkers-in-the-pyrenees/?lang=en
I hope this helps
Hi! What GPS did you use to record the track? And also, how did you manage to keep charging the device for so long?
Hi Stamen. I had a Garmin Vista. It ran on two AA batteries so I had a total of eight that I recharged in refuges. However l would now recommend a portable phone with a pack to recharge it. Like that I get seven days of walking before needing to recharge.
Thank you! I may use both in that case.
Have fun
