Itinerary description
It all starts at the bottom of Barney waterfall. Take the narrow footpad on the left until you reach the top of the waterfall, cross over to the right side and from there is a long steady walk following the proper ridge. If you stick to the ridge is a lot easier than taking the slabs located half way on the left hand side of Leaning Peak (north face).
It's pretty much a straight forward walk up to the final wall, where parties normally use a rope and a tree belay located 20m on the left of the crag. It can be done without too much trouble if you are a climber or an experienced mountaineer (roughly around the 8-9 Australian grading system and depending where you go, easier towards the tree, harder the further you go towards the right). Once the crux is passed, it's an easy unprotected hike to the summit.
The rap anchor has two bolts with hangers and rap rings. A 50m static rope will take you safely to the bottom of the pinnacle.
We returned to the saddle located between Isolated and North peaks via Eagles slabs. From there we just followed the path of least resistance including six dry creek crossings before hitting the Lower Portals main track.
