Itinerary description
A nice challenging hike on one of Barney's less prominent routes with overnight packs. A variant to the "4 peaks" hike Paul and I completed posted by himself (Shatkins) missing the West Peak down Midget Ridge.
Starting on Logan's Ridge for roughly 1km to a cairn that mark's a faint northern turn. There is now a faint footpad that leads over Rocky creek to the start of North Ridge.
Follow the ridge up. First large slab that you come to, skirt to the north then stick to the south on the next slabs further up. Once upon North Peak, locate the chasm that needs to be crossed south west of the peak. Locate the East/North saddle slab that can be camped at and then its a relatively moderate scramble/walk up Barney's Northern slabs of East Peak to catch the main trail's to the top of East.
On this hike we camped the night at the Old Hut site with return via South Ridge the following morning.

Hey there I'm thinking of hiking North Ridge and camping at Old Hut. How does North Ridge ascent compare to SE ridge ascent with an overnight pack? Is it more dangerous? I've done SE ascent already and wanted to try another route
