Itinerary description
About 2.5 hour drive from Huaraz to Punta Olímpica, where the trail starts.
Technically not too challenging, as far as 5000 m summits go, but you should have previous experience in using snow gear (crampons and ice axe). You should also use a certified guide!
The ascent is made up of 2 thirds walk up the rocky face of the mountain to approximately 5000 m. One third is the walk up the glacier to the summit at 5150 m.
Take - mountain shoes, crampons, ice axe, helmet, harness, rope, head torch, warm mountain clothes and gloves, plenty of water and snacks.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did :)
