Maja e Thate in Valbone is a challenge hike. The trailpoint is in Valbone valley, elevation 920m. There two routes. First route start from Valbone and continue through Kukaj and at certain point you turn on east direction. The other trail goes along Lugu i Persllopit which start at the bridge just in front of Jezerca Guest House. This trail is easy to be follow as it is well marked till Qafa e Rrethit Ujit at 1800m and a distance from the trailpoint of 4.9km. After this point there are no marks and we followed the GPS signal.
The trail continue up and down till saddle, Qafa e Rupes, 2150m, 7.3km distance. At this point start the dangerous zone. Initially you go down for 30 meters through a steep grass part where i was hit by a 40-50cm stone which rolled over. I was lucky to turn the back and the stone hited my backpack. Helmet is mandatory but in some parts you need a rope as well. After 8km distance start the rocky path. You have to find the right part to go up.
