Itinerary description
Jezerca is the highest peak of the Albanian Alps with 2694 m. There are 4 or 5 directions to reach the summit. One of the biggest challenges is reaching the summit from the Smail Valley. The trail length is10.5 km and the elevation gain is 1600 m. The trail start from Rrogam and after 700 m goes right and up to the stream bed. The trail from the stream to the top was covered with snow. The trail from the stream starts with a slope of 25°and after 1.5 km goes to 35°. At 4 km before we reach the ridge of the mountain the slope goes 45°-60°. Also getting up to the ridge need attention because of stone falling and you need also to have some climbing skills cause in some place the ridge is very tight and goes up and down with a slope that goes from 55°-70°. The View from the top of the mounting was wonderful, you can see the Valbona Valley and all the heights peak in this area.
