At 11 in the evening, the alarm clock sounds, it's time to take us for breakfast and start the final climb. They are the 12 touches of how we begin to walk, we have starry night and the frontals illuminate the road, we are accompanied by five guides and three carriers, in total we are 21 people, climbing up the mountain up.
Walking at night, in the dark, there are people who assimilate him very well, he is not long ago and seems to walk better and there are others that are eternal. A climb like this that you just have to walk and go up hours and hours, earning 1100mts up to Stella Point and with height conditions, makes everything a matter of physical and, above all, mental resistance, to achieve -ho.
As we have spent a few hours walking and shortly before leaving Coll, it seems that the cold intensifies, but we are almost up.
Once we reach Stila Point 5765m, we take a few minutes of rest and regrouping and we continue to walk along the broad edge of the crater, while the day begins to dawn. These first lights will allow us to see the remains of the famous "Neus del Kilimanjaro", which despite being very diminished, still show us some impressive ice parades, all over the edge of the crest.
With the first lights, ice and snow, they are dyed with intense red and blue colors, the views are spectacular, the crater is immense, huge in surface, not in depth, which seems to have little, unless we see.
These first few hours are the coldest days we have spent on the mountain every day, but we already have the summit to play.
Finally, after almost seven hours on the way, we will conquer the summit of Kili, the Uhuru Peak (Peak of Freedom) in Suahili and call it the year that Tanzania conquered its independence.
We take the photographs rigorously, let's eat a little and start the way back to the Barafu camp.
Now, by day, we see and we notice all the difference that we had risen at night. The descent is rapidíssima, running through the volcanic gravel stones that favor the rapid descent.
