Itinerary description
A relatively simple route departing from the refuge Vittorio Emmanuelle and reaching the summit of Gran Paraíso offering beautiful views in good weather.
The route begins to climb a moraine of relatively large boulders which are not too difficult to navigate. Eventually the path is snow covered and crampons are required to progress.
The final 100 metres of ascent are a little more complicated with the route becoming steeper and finally requiring climbing to the summit via very exposed rock, which is equipped with points for safety.
The route crosses a glacier and as such all of the necessary precautions should be taken such as being roped to route partners, and using safety equipment such as helmets, quick draws, etc.
