Itinerary description

The Hohe Gjaidstein is a 2794 m high lookout mountain in the Dachstein Mountains in Upper Austria, east of the Hallstätter glacier . It can be reached from the mountain station of the Dachstein-Südwandbahn or from the Simonyhütte in easy climbing ( I ). In addition to the high, there are also the Lower Gjaidstein ( 2482 m ) and the Little Gjaidstein ( 2734 m ).

An early ascent was made in 1823 by de Halley from the north from the Gjaidkar. Whether the simple summit was climbed earlier, is not known.
