Itinerary description
Recorded: summer 2013
IMPORTANT: This trail has not been recorded by GPS. It has been drawn by hand after the completion of the trek.
The start of the trail is easily accessible by car and the trail is marked until a small christian chapel in the location of Dragonera or Dragonara. From there there is no clear trail leading to the mountains and one should just walk and scramble their way to the top. This part offers great view to all directions, especially to the south where there are steep cliffs below and Manikiatis river at the bottom. At the end of this steep ridge one can find water in a well even in the summer. The trail continues to the north where it follows the ridge which leads to Mavrovouni peak (1189m). Halfway along the ridge lies the start of the fir forest. Mavrovouni is a peak full of large rocks on the last few tens of meters and some scrambling is needed to reach the top. From the peak all the mountains of this trail are visible.
Peaks: Mavrovouni (1189m), Skotini (1362m), Xerovouni (1453m)
