Itinerary description
Long +85Km trail covering the most interesting sites Parco Dell'Etna can offer.
Starting with a short training trek with nice views along the NE side and a visit to Grotta Dei Tre Livelli with the day ending with camp near Rif.Sapienza.
The actual trail starts from Rif.Sapienza using one way only cablecar and trekking all the way to the summits. A quick walk around the craters proceeding north to the INGV station which offers some nice views. The trail then heads to Piano Provenzana for another camp night. Following is a walk to Mareneve to start the 'Pista Altomontana' trail which is litteraly littered with Huts (Rifugi) with treatable water and offers a number of Caves one can explore. To reach some caves (Achi & Gelo) one needs to leave the Pista to return after the caves are visited. The Pista altomontana ends few Km west of Rif. Sapienza.
