Itinerary description

We publish this direct route to one of the simplest peaks in the vicinity of the Kanchenjunga Base North Camp, the Dromo Ri from which you will find spectacular views of the 3rd highest peak on earth.

Since it is located at the altitude limit of 6000 meters, it is not necessary to pay a special permit, except for the access permit to the conservation area. That yes, it is mandatory to access the park with an accredited guide.

3h 50 min of ascension from the KBC (Pangpema) without major difficulties than any trekking in the Himalayas. No technical material is necessary.

Many people, like us, stay in the two sheds of Pangpema (they are closed outside the climbing station) or you can make bivouac or sleep in a tent in the same KBC. This facilitates acclimatization. It is also possible to start trekking from the last Tea Houses in Lhonak, which would lengthen this route 2-3 hours.

900 meters of positive height difference.

The route has 3 false peaks that could undermine the morale of the most experienced, but even experiencing the difficulties of the altitude, but I encourage that it is worth it. In fact 3 Frenchmen who climbed at the same time as us, resigned in the absence of the final 200 m.

The descent can be done by the normal route to the peak by the east slope, less advisable and longer than the direct route shown here.
