Itinerary description
Cerro Macón or Nevado Macón is a mountain that stands out from the village of Tolar Grande in Salta, Argentina.
It is a mountain popularly climbed by the locals of the Puna every year, being a traditional place to perform rituals since the time of the Incas, who were the first to reach the summit of this mountain.
Acay is not a beautiful mountain, but from the top there is a very special view from where you can see all the mountains in the area: Quewar, Socompa, Llullallaico, Acay and others.
Although it is a mountain that can be used as part of acclimatisation, it has a long ascent and is not recommended for those who have just arrived at high altitude.
