Iceland has dozens of mountains named "Búrfell" - some say it has something to do with the shape, they all tend to be squat and broad-shouldered. If you use this track then by all means use the return version - on the ascent we waded across the Öxará river only to find ourselves on the wrong bank and needing to repeat the exploit. Since it was late October, the water was somewhat cold. The strange kinks in our path higher up stem from difficulties getting across a brook that is supposed to be easy to jump across.
