About 5 hours round trip and about 1300 m of difference in altitude.
We start the route from the reception house... full of t-shirts, stickers, buffs, etc for you to spend your money. The first post the parking lot, 8 pounds. We cross a bridge to the left and, shortly after, after crossing some meadows, we begin the ascent along a well-marked path, most of it paved (they paved it to build the observatory on the top). There is practically no rest, everything is ascent, the spectacular views, lake included and the flood of immense people... it is the most visited peak in Scotland (more than 100,000 a year). Although it is a relatively low peak, 1,345 meters, care must be taken out of season due to the extremely low temperatures that it reaches. We were at -2º in September, which is not a big deal, but we can imagine how far they can go in January or February. After enjoying the views, the fog completely covered us and the cold began to get to us. Well covered and with gloves we reached the top without being able to admire the beautiful cliffs of more than 700 meters (the blissful fog). The spooky peak, the ruins of the observatory built in 1883, give it a 'gorillas in the mist' feel
Little more a beautiful place, a spectacular peak and a mountain that should not be underestimated.
