Itinerary description
A very easy hike which is clearly signposted. Up to the saddle, the path is over a meter wide. The rest of the way to the summit is an easy trail which is very easy to follow without any possibility of getting lost, even with thick clouds. I used the return ticket from the gondola after having tried paragliding to make the ascent easier. The gondola does not offer one-way tickets, only returns at NZD 40, and they are normally only valid the same day. I managed to get 3-day validity.
I attach pictures of the summit covered in cloud during my ascent, completely cloudless during my descent, the ridge up from the saddle and Ben Lomond on a clearer day.
It took me 1h20 from the top of the gondola to the saddle and 1h05 from there to the summit which must be ok for a 57-year old man...
