Route Description
Due to the altitude covered, this is a route that runs in its first phase along a track in gentle ascent between mountain forest that is usually covered with fog or clouds due to annual rainfall that receives more than 2000mm. Here we find typical tree species such as epiphytes, junipersus process, etc., and carnivorous endemic plants with red flowers of a singular beauty. As for the fauna, various primates such as Angolan colobus, Abyssinian or black and white oriental colobus, not forgetting the black-necked crows that accompanied us to high altitudes. As we advance in height the tree mass is losing its thickness to gradually give way to the typical vegetation at altitudes above 3000m.
Technically this is an easy route for the experienced as far as the distance traveled close to 12km in 5 hours with a gain in height of 2445m, but somewhat misleading since if we analyze in detail its other characteristics, we have that IBP index is 152HKG similar to the one he gave me on the route through the Upper Atlas between Amil-Lepidey Shelter. As for the analysis of repets, during the first 7 km we only have a 26% slope which shows the smoothness of the route, it is in this distance when we find a strong climb with 47% during 665m that hardens the path to end with two slopes close to 30%. It is simply a route of progressive adaptation to altitude.
