Itinerary description
Strictly speaking this file describes an ascent of "Eyrarfjall" because that is the name of the mountain - "Arnarnúpur" refers to the vertical northern flank of the mountain. Since the precipice is the main attraction, I decided to use it as the title.
This is an easy hike up loose scree slopes (we used a dry streambed on the ascent) followed by an easy stroll along the flat top of the mountain, looking frequently over the edge at the scenery below. Probably not to be attempted in foggy weather (what would be the point anyway?) because the cliff's edge frequently makes 90° turns ...
