Two-day circular route on the Isle of Skye.
Day 1/2:
Distance: 15 km
Accumulated positive slope: 1100 m
The route leaves the Kilmarie car park towards Camasunary. When the road begins to descend towards Camasunary we turn towards the north, in a pronounced curve that describes the road, to climb through the valley through the valley (Abhainn nan Leac), passing by small waterfalls towards the pass. Once in the hill we continue on the path that comes from the most common route to the summit in the east, so we reach the secondary summit. To access the summit of Bla Bheinn, you have to continue a few meters to the north, detour a few meters through very good rock with good grabs and ascend again to the true summit. The views are equally spectacular from the secondary summit so it is not necessary to access the other if we do not want to do the detour. We made the descent by the same route to Camasunary where we installed the store.
Day 2/2:
Distance: 14.5 km
Cumulative positive slope: 275 m
Gentle road day to enjoy the landscape. We leave Camasunary to the west on the route that goes to Loch Coruisk. It is a very beautiful path, which runs alongside the sea, with the islands in the background and overlooking the imposing Cuillin Hills. just before reaching a small beach there is a step called "Bad Step". It does not have much difficulty, it is about passing for a few meters with your feet in a crack-ledge (see photos) quite wide and with very good rock. Right after we arrived at a small beach where we ate watching seals and enjoying the views before returning by the same road to Camasunary. From here return to the parking lot by the normal route.
Perfect time, locals said it was one of the best weekends they remember.
In Camasunary there are a couple of unsaved shelters (bothies). The new one we did not see inside, the old man is fine to sleep, has several rooms and a larger room with fireplace. In the vicinity are almost all area of bogs (grass with water) so you have to search well where to put the store. The cross country zone through the valley is also bogs for the most part.
As a curiosity, do not neglect the backpacks, we left them halfway up from the hill to the summit and back some animal (I think birds, crows most likely) had opened the cremaleras, broken plastic bags and eaten much show our supplies.
