Itinerary description
Route from Zarouchla in Achaea to Doksa lake in Korynthia.
0,0km - Zarouchla. Start from the village, a little up from the center. Route first goes down but before reaching the center turns left in direction to Pheneos (signposted). From here starts long and steady climb until the highest point of the route (1450m).
8,1km - Pass, the highest point of the route. The route turns right to enter Korynthia. Downhill section all the way to Pheneos starts from here. Higher parts of the road had a lot of water and mud at this time of the year.
17,5km - Road Pheneos-Doksa, lowest point of the route (820m). Route turns sharp right to Doksa lake. This part is fairly flat until the damof the lake. I did a round over the lake with small detour to Panorama and Archeo Pheneos.
24,4km - Church at the lake. Small stop, snack and return with the same route. I was planning to return with different road but locals told me that now it might be not possible in some parts due to water and/or snow. Finally I decided to take the same roads back
46,4km - back in Zarouchla. I went through the village on my way back.
48,5km - back at starting point
The route at this time of the year has some parts with water, mud and snow, therefore it can be a little dangerous and more demanding. Very beautiful views to Doksa lake, Pheneos valley and to Zarouchla village.
Level moderate to high just for the mud and snow. Probably in the summer it would be easier.
