Itinerary description
Start on the DoC walking track from Wainui Bay to Whariwharagi Bay, at the top of the saddle where the track drops down to Whariwharagi, take a left and head up hill to the summit of Gibbs Hill. (Note - no bikes are permitted on the walking track down to Whariwharagi).
You will be riding on old overgrown four wheel drive tracks, and there are some very steep sections on the climb up Gibbs Hill, require good skills - or be prepared to bail out and walk the last few hundred meters!
At the summit head down to the turn off to Pigeon Park where you can take the shorter route back (via Pigeon park to the Totaranui Hill Road) or take a left and carry on down hill to Totaranui beach. From there its a good hard climb back up the gravel road and back down to Wainui Bay.
