Itinerary description

VERTIGO RIDE ON THE DEATH ROAD
This amazing bike ride is on the World’s Most Dangerous Road (Named by the Interamerican Development Bank) and in one of the most amazing sceneries on earth (Yungas Region - Bolivia), we will ride a downhill of 3500 Mts. of vertical drop on 67 Km. of Tarmac (25%) and dirt (75 %) surfaces beginning in the 4700 Mts of the high lands (La Cumbre) and getting to 1200 Mts. of Yolosa and during this we will have incredible views of waterfalls, exuberant vegetation, rivers, valleys and the Andean Mountains, This in only 4 hours of riding.

The bike ride will be done on our Haro Extreme X6 Full Suspension Bikes (www.harobikes.com) and with the best safety equipment in the market: full face helmets, (661 comp) elbow & knee pads (Thor & EVS), Full finger Gloves (Thor) and under request our Goggles (Smith). All of this equipment is to avoid most of the risk on eventual accidents that may occur.

Our Bilingual guides and all the staff will be happy to ride and to share some history of the road with you to make your time pleasant , so please if you ride with us remember that we are not a racing company, we are a tour company that wants you to have a safe & enjoyable time at all day.

So it’s not like dare or not to dare, just book this tour if you feel like doing it and if you do so, enjoy it!

Our schedule is as Follows:

7:00 - 8:00 Meeting at the office (Continental breakfast is provided if you come) or Pick you up from you Hotel/hostel (no breakfast is provided by us)

8:00 - 8:15 Departure to “La Cumbre” in our private van

9:00 - 9:15 Arrival to “La Cumbre”

9:15 - 9:45 Rules and Warning explanations from our guides (please listen carefully and absolve all your doubts)

9:45 - 10:00 Beginning of the Tour

10:40 Arrival to Unduavi - Tourist Check point. (You have to pay the entrance ticket - 25 Bolivianos)

11:00 – 11:15 Departure from Unduavi to Chuspipata (beginning of the WMDR) in the van (we always skip the uphill section on the Tarmac for safety reasons)

11:15 Arrival to the summit of Chuspipata and some more rules and warnings for you

11:30 Beginning of the Downhill in the World Most Dangerous Road

12:30 First stop for a brief rest and the meal on the road (Sandwiches – coke – Juice –Chips)

12:50 Continue the ride

13:30 Another brief rest with some beverages (after riding some uphill)

13:40 Continue the ride

14:00 - 14:30 Arrival to Yolosa – end of the bike ride

14:45 Departure from Yolosa to a Hotel in the Coroico Area

15:00 Arrivals to Hotel

15:00 - 15:30 You can take a shower, enjoy the swimming pool or have a relax time

15:30 -16:30 Buffet Lunch

16:45 Departure to La Paz

20:30 Arrival to La Paz, sometimes we drop you near you Hotel/Hostel, under request we drop you at the bus Terminal or if none of those is possible or requested you get to our office.

We include in our package:

A Haro full suspension bike

All the safety equipment (helmet, gloves & pads)

A vest or jacket and trousers (this will depend on the season and the weather)

1 guide per 5 riders

1 van per 8 riders

All the meals and drinks during the time of the tour except the drinks in the hotel.

A free T-shirt and a CD with pictures and Short videos of the experience (Pick up the day after the ride on our business hours) we also upload the pictures to facebook if you request it.

We bring a complete first aid kit, an Oxygen tube of 2 hours, hiking ropes & all the equipment for climbing and backboards + 2 way communication radios between guides and vans for any situation that may occur during the ride.

The entrance ticket to the WMDR is not included in the price
