UAE Dubai Ras al Kaimah HATTA MTB TRAILS April2015

Near Hatta there is an area that has been set and improved for best in class Mountain Biking.
The tracks in Hatta are technical, rocks and pebbles, ramps up and down.... and they are very well categorized as Green -easiest- Blue, Red, and Black. Green would be great for those getting started with MTB, Blue can already be quite a challenge and RED is really only for those who are just clearly INTO it. Black... tops.
I joined a great group to do this track, KOM MTB, around 6 people, great atmosphere, as in... let's do this, but no need for casualties and a great deal of helping each other. Some of us did struggle with the some 18kms we did in the end, the heat went up, ... april... ended up at 40 degrees.... do not negotiate with water... especially if you have never gone there before... just make sure you will have more than you need. Your normal views on how much water you normally need for a given distance.... forget about that, take more.
All in all if you like mountain bike, in ok shape, and like to use your skills and balance on ramps up and down and on narrow trails mid of the hill (so full alert or else you can go down... ).... if you like that type of stuff , you are in Dubai and have a spare day... you should not miss this.

(Getting by car from Dubai: when you are planning you will see you have a choice... a.) drive in UAE and avoid crossing the border of Oman, and this is possible but it's more kms... or option b.) is you take the great Road 44... takes you there more quickly but you will cross the border UAE into Oman , and then out again, and then to come back in and out again. If you will do that you need to find out the current rules. (When I did this, with the Dubai Resident ID and a Car Insurance with coverage for Oman, it was just fine, but you gotta make sure what is the rule before you decide to drive through Oman).
