Itinerary description
An enjoyable ride, not too technical (which suited Colin), with nice views.
It starts from the attractive village of St. Marsal (all holiday lets and second homes), soon finds a footpath which takes a short cut over a ridge, rejoining the road to the equally touristy village of La Bastide.
A long forest road leads up to the ruined tower. A disrecommended footpath can be used to begin the descent, but it’s better to backtrack along the road.
The descent is mostly flowing forest singletrack until it opens out on a ridge, rejoining a gravel road soon after.
[We did 150m more climbing owing to getting lost. If you want to see a GPS track of the disrecommended footpath, follow the ‘View more’ link, click on the cogwheel and then follow the ⊞ link.]
