Itinerary description
Tinjan was once a small town on the border. In the Roman era, the Attinianum at that time preserved the boundaries of the Porec Agro to the insufficiently romanized interior of the Istrian peninsula and supervised the road to Tarsatica. In the Middle Ages it became one of the supporters of Pazinian possessions of Majnard of the town of Brno and together with the Pazin castle, with a married bond, came into the hands of Gorić Counts. To them, the Tinjan fortress has often guarded the western border to the properties of the Aquila Patriarch, just as from 1374 until the arrival of Napoleon, their new owners, the Habsburg family, guarded the hot border of Pazin's Count to the Venetian possessions. Though situated on the border, Tinjan was not just a fortified fortress, but since 1578 it is called the city.
Today, the Tinjan region is proud to preserve its history and tradition, whether it is the symbols of this region, its stone dryness and the locusts of kosmos and rankings, folklore and architectural heritage, sermons and legends, or the finest gastronomic delicacies such as Istrian prosciutto.
The tradition of the production of top-quality prosciutto on Tinjanštinidan has preserved several registered prosciutto, and in 2006 Tinjan was proclaimed also by the Municipality of Istrian Prosciutto. Another important symbol of this region is the blacksmith trade, while the tinjanski kosirins are well known, so on the feast of Simunj in Tinjan there is traditionally held smithra of kos and other blacksmith products from all over Istria.
At every step of Tinjanština, you will encounter ancient castles and chalices. The particularity of tinjanskihkažuna is that they are not always round, but they can be square or even buried beneath the ground at the edge of the cake. Typical construction of stone houses with balade is particularly well preserved in smaller villages, while high-enclosed courtyards and monumental portals, entrance doors, characteristic of the southern part of Tinjanština.
Special importance for the life of the village, in the past, has been found in lakes and springs, which began to decline after the construction of the water supply and the cessation of livestock. The municipality of Tinjan has regulated about 35 kilometers of bicycle paths called "From the pond to the pond". The name derives from the fact that the track connects the old Tinjanka oaks that have been renewed in the action of the repair of the track, and a bicycle rider has been set up on each pitch. Twice a year, the municipality of Tinjan organizes recreational bicycles that gather more than 200 participants. A small bicycle trail for about 30 kilometers can be visited by dozens of restored and re-arranged ponds and springs across the Tinjanci and part of the neighboring Karojba municipality. One of the most beautiful on this trail is the Pajićka lake

Laganom biciklističkom stazom dugom tridesetak kilometara možete obići desetak obnovljenih i iznova uređenih lokvi i izvora na cijeloj Tinjanštini i dijelu susjedne općine Karojba.
