Itinerary description
This was a great 22km circuit I did by mountain bike whatever I could, but pushed/carried/lifted my bike in various places such as the hiking trails which are quite rugged.
Start point is the Water Reservoir on Thornbill St, Spring Mountain. Mainly followed the Yaddamun Trail for around 13 kms until reaching White Rock. The Yaddamun Trail is mainly a wide fire trail that is quite sandy in places making it tough on the bike. Ascended White Rock as this as its always a great lookout and rocky formation. Quite a few people here today.
Continued on various rugged hiking trails (mainly following one called "Daisy's") until reaching Spring Mountain proper. Didn't bother ascending that mountain as I was actually feeling quite fatigued (heat plus quite a bit of other training this week...excuses). Kept following the Spring Mountain trail all the way around the large valley following the ridge line. This ridge line is actually beautiful in many places, but quite tough if pushing a MTB.
Finally came back to the water tower which was my start point.
I was thinking of circuiting this whole valley on foot a few weeks back, but I'm glad I did this on the MTB as I think it would otherwise have taken 6+hrs.
