Itinerary description
Mixed. The morning is a long and hard climb on a cobbled road, rather dreary at the beginning. You only have to do it once.The muletrack descent from Pico da Cruz is pleasant and easy riding (though not often paved) as far as the abandoned cantonment of Mesa. Beyond this point you follow a ruined road with a very poor surface. Danger of puncture from the spiny shrubs.
