Itinerary description
The trail starts from the huge parking at Platak center, continuing on an asphalt road and then quickly changing to terrain. Even though most of this trail is a slow ascent, you don't really notice it and it's a fairly easy ride even for beginners. Beware of a few descents where the gravel is somewhat larger than usual; ride carefully here.
The hardest part of the route starts at the junction at 9km, where you take a right, and then make a loop. Whichever way you wish to enter the loop,. it's going to be an ascent - a bit steep in spots - and then a descent right to the exit of the loop. From there, you take the same way back whence you came.
Due to the ascents from the 9km - 12km mark, this trail does require some good stamina and power in the legs. Even if the official BikeRijeka brochure designates it as "easy", it's not really that family friendly. Expect a decent workout.
Waypoints
Intersection #3
Continue straight here.
Intersection #4
Continue straight here.
Intersection #5
Continue straight here. Note: at this junction, when you're passing here on your way back, if you're not too tired you can take a right turn (on the upwards slope) for a more challenging way to the starting point.
Intersection #8
Continue straight here.
Intersection #9
Take a right here to go into the loop. Once you take the right, there's again an intersection where you can choose which way to navigate the loop. Either way, you're first be facing an incline. and then a rewarding way down. I suggest entering the loop on the right side, beside the concrete tank. The trail should be a bit easier this way.
Intersection #11
Make a U-turn here. The hardest part of the trail is over, now you'll be making your way back mostly going downwards.
Monument
A monument in the memory of Viktor Lenac, a Croatian freedom fighter killed in these woods by the fascist invaders in 1942.
