Itinerary description
A scenic ride along Pigeon Bay and some of Banks Peninsula tops. This is all shingle (dirt) road with little traffic. There is no technical difficulty except for the layers of gravel in corners and in the middle of the road which can be challenging especially when going downhill. The climb on the return journey is easier than the outward leg.
On the last switchback down to Little Pigeon Bay there is a path towards the head of the bay. It's a narrow single track and it's rideable, in parts. At some point I left my bike and instead walked to the heads.
Great views and good exercise. There is cell phone coverage for most of the ride.
