Good route that starts under the Château Laurier bridge, right where the bike rental stand is (32.38 CAD for 4 hours of bike rental, lock and cell phone holder).
The first thing is to cross Major's Hill Park and enter Gatineau (Quebec) through the Alexandra Bridge. From there you roll in the direction of Gatineau, following the banks of the Ottawa River and the Gatineau tributary to Leamy Lake Park. Go around the lake and continue north and west, towards the Parc de la Gatineau. There begins the ascent with greater unevenness to Lac Pink, the summit destination of the excursion. There I recommend accessing the 2 viewpoints to contemplate this beautiful lake of a dazzling turquoise green color (in summer). I continued up a bit, but it's not worth it either.
From there, the return begins, cutting the route from the Promenade de la Gatineau to the Ottawa River, crossing towards Ottawa (Ontario) through the Portage Bridge. In Ottawa, turn left to pass in front of the Parliament of Canada to the Rideau Canal, traveling about 200m until you find the passage to the opposite bank and return under the bridge where the bicycle was rented.
*** I recommend bringing plenty of water and a hat if you are not wearing a helmet. The sun shines strong in July. ***
The route is mostly on an exclusive bike lane (and pedestrians), except for the ascent to Lac Pink, but with very few cars in circulation, I did not come across any, just more cyclists.
