Itinerary description
Summer 2012 almost ends, but my friend Nino and i had time for the next challenge! Last year we pick the island Molat and drove all over (please read the review about this track), so the decision for this year was to visit the island Premuda. If you ask why? Here is the reason: Premuda is farest away from Zadar, beside the pure nature it has also very interesting historical background. It was the first pirate island in adria (dont worry the natives are very friendly) and later it was a very important and strategic military point for the italian and yugoslavian navy to observe the adria. North part of the island was closed for civilian people. Inside this area they build military buildings and defence areas that are not used anymore and now open for everyone.
The roads inside the village are good prepared, outside the roads are wide, surface is stone and not problematic for bicycles. The highest peak is about 80m, no shadows so you have only to fight against the sun heat.
Personal note: Be aware of spiders they quite often "close" the road for work.
This time i have to recommend a very nice and good restaurant called Konoba Grmalj. It is a 20year family restaurant that are offering natural foods made with fire (search for the explanation of the word peka). The service is very friendly and the prices are feasable. Both days we had the pleasure to enjoy in his excellent foods.
So what to say at the end? Premuda is definitely worth for a 2 day visit if you take the long car ferry travel of 5 hours into account. Premuda good bye...
