Itinerary description
Begin Thomas Creek trailhead (has pit restroom and huge parking lot), at the end of Timberline Road. Very short section of dirt road at the very end, keep going across the wooden bridge and then up the short hill. To start, ride back on Timberline to Whites Creek trail entrance. Climb paved and then dirt road about 1 mile to Whites Creek trailhead, (has pit restroom and smallish parking lot). Climb the old jeep road/horse trail about 1.9 miles. Use the road because climbing is much easier on the road. End at the Wilderness Sign, no bikes allowed beyond this point.
Descend down, taking the scenic and technical walking/bike path trails. Trails pass close to the creek in several paces, quite nice, shady. Descent takes less than half the climbing time. Some technical sections with large rocks, tight clearances, I need to be very careful!
I rated this ride difficult (for me) because of the 1,000 feet of climbing, (I needed to take a dozen breathers, and walk the bike some places) and the technical / bad places to fall in some places along the descent.
