Itinerary description
What I call the "Oak Forest" road is very old--it's on topo maps from the 40s. These days, it gets almost no traffic, which is understandable, because it's now VERY rocky and rough for the first few kilometers. Eventually, it becomes a very pleasant meander through the cool-in-the-summer oak forest. What I call the 'Bald Knob' has some of the best views in this region. The ride up and out of the Ben Smim valley is always a great climb, with its last few hundred meters being particularly challenging. I always cut across the plain to Arz Village--thatt minimizes my time on the dangerous Ifrane-Azrou highway.
