A bike/hike adventure of 20kms. This was great fun and a cool way to cover some good distance in only 3 hours on terrain I've ever only seen in the distance but had no idea how to get there!
Start point was at the water tower on Wuraga Rd. Traversed over the very steep Mt Wuraga (an unnamed mountain off Wuraga Rd), and down the other side through thick heavy scrub (love that lantana!). Came down to a beautiful little fresh water creek, crossed over and came out to the truck water pumping station on Bahrs Scrub Rd.
Followed the road to the end (longer than I thought) until I hit Buccan Conservation Park. Followed the fire trail and eventually came out to Randle Rd. Came to the end and hit dirt track which was the backside of Belivah, which is where the start of the ascent to the ridgeline was that would take me to Wolffdene. This section has some of the steepest firetrail segments I've come across in ages, and pushing my MTB up was a challenge.
Eventually got to the top which was God's country, where the hills just began to roll green and the cows were lapping up the lush grass. Followed the trail downhill here through a couple of closed gates - not knowing if this was private property or not, so I just kept going.
Kept descending downhill towards Dunn's Rd, until I came across a ute with an older gentleman and a young teen on the side of the dirt track pushing some boulders over a small cliff edge on the road. I spoke with them if they knew if this road was private property. They said it was an easement and he was the owner of the land (all 800 acres of it!). Obviously I apologized for riding on his land, but he was totally ok with it and said that it was no worries, and if I had to use the trail it was fine. We had a laugh and off I continued. As I hit Dunn's Rd as the entry of this trail, his wife and family members were there. We had a chat and they had no problem with me riding down their land and driveway, and were quite glad I was able to take some nice GoPro footage of how nice the hills are up top.
I then continued all the way to Beaudesert-Beenleigh Rd and made my journey all the way back past Belivah, Windaroo, Beenleigh and to my start point on Wuraga Rd at the water tower reservoir.
