Itinerary description
This ride starts at the Rocky River Road intersection with the Motueka Valley West Bank Road. Ride the first 8.16km on forestry roads (Rocky River Road)to a locked gate at the start of the Mt Campbell Road. Note it is Private land from locked gate 5.4km to the summit. Owners permit public access but NO motorised vehicle access from locked gate. (Limited parking at the gate so if you drive to the gate you may have to park several hundred meters back down the hill - where the sign warns of steep road and 4-wheel drive essential).
It is a steep steady climb all the way from the valley floor to the summit.
Spectacular 360 degree views from the top. Exciting demanding downhill ride on gravel rutted road!
Be prepared for extreme weather changes at any time of the year.
Good level of fitness required to get up and a good degree of ability needed to handle the down hill!
Please respect the fact that some of this ride is on private land, leave gates as found and take your rubbish with you.
