Itinerary description

Why bother with Moab? This route is quite technical and a lot of fun. There's a bit of hiking and carrying involved (nothing too dramatic) but instead you are rewarded with a spectacular view and some very unique grippy sand-stone on the top.
You start from the road to Nesjavellir on the top of the first hill and follow the jeep track up the hill and later the wooden sticks that mark the hiking path. You can follow the sticks more or less all the way. When you finally hit bottom again follow the single track north back to where you left the car.
Remember a spare tube ;)

More info about the route are available here (in Icelandic): http://www.or.is/media/PDF/Leid_1.pdf

Technically demanding and scenic. The said sandstone is truly grippy and fun to ride.

Great ride along the tops. Sandstone section are good fun. Beware that the ride back along the valley is on sand shingle farm track that is not so buzzy - you can of course turn around and ride the ridgeline back... (recommended)

There is another version of this track called "Snaran", also to be found on Wikiloc
It basically goes back over the mountains but with a really cool twist. Its a much more fun route even though it requires a bit of hike and bike. But it's worth it
