Itinerary description
Lovön is an island in the Swedish Lake Mälaren in Ekerö Municipality of Stockholm County. It is by UNESCO registered as a World Heritage Site due to its main attraction Drottningholm Castle and the cultural landscape surrounding it. Lovön is also classified as a nature reserve and regulation only admits MTB cycling on the Lovön MTB trail (marked purple).
The MTB trail goes through stunning pine and oak forrests with shorter distances on gravel roads. It is a rough and technical trail with alot of small height differences. The main trail is around 14 km and has 250 altimeters.
I would categories the Lovön MTB trail as a S2 trail with some parts a bit more technical.
The trail is a round trip in the shape of an eight (8). You can start anywhere on the trail and it is marked with purple markings in both directions. I would recommend to go clockwise on the bigger loop and counter clockwise on the smaller loop
